What could be better than a celebrity endorsement of another celebrity’s line of hair extensions? A celebrity cat fight!
Following Britney’s infamous head shaving incident, Jessica Simpson sent her former nemesis a set of Jessica Simpson-brand hair extensions.
According to Jessica, she only wanted to helpful. Brit, however, saw the gift as an insult, so she returned the box with an attached note that read, “No Thanks.” Irritating, no?
Oddly enough, Britney recently purchased a set of Simpson’s hair extensions. When word of the purchase reached Jessica, she was apparently further irritated by Brit.
What’s going to happen here, people? Will the two reconcile or will they continue the cat fight? Any thoughts?

Uh, no. Not that James Brown. (He’s dead, remember?)The James Brown launching a new haircare line with supermodel Kate Moss is actually a hair stylist. Moss and Brown are releasing their shampoos, conditioners and whatever else to the public on October 1st — but if you really can’t wait another week, enter this competition on the James Brown site, and you could win a set of the products to try out before they appear in the stores.
While Moss’ generally stringy, heroine chic coiffure doesn’t really seem like it should be inspiration for an entire haircare line, the products will apparently be filled with nettle, watercress, white tea, wheatgerm, and Murumuru butter (which all sound very pleasant) — plus, they’ll have a woodland scent. Yum.

Every time I go shopping at vintage boutiques I find the coolest earrings. The problem is they are always clip-on earrings. What do you do with vintage clip on earrings? I mean, they are kind of cheesy to wear as actual earrings and most gals I know have pierced ears. My clip-on earring conundrum is finally solved … wear them as hair clips.I discovered this wonderful idea while paging through an old Lucky magazine. The model had her hair loosely swept back in a bun with a tiny cluster of clip on earrings attached to the side of her head. While they aren’t strong enough to actually hold your hair back, they serve as the perfect add on to a boring old bun. The look is best when you mix and match different pairs of earrings to make for a more unique look.
Find clip on earrings in your local vintage stores, flea markets, online, or in your grandmother’s jewelry box.

Hair color is a $1.4 billion industry here in the United States. Then again, in our youth-driven culture, it isn’t any wonder that women and men are willing to open their wallets wide to keep their hair looking young. But is it really worth it?
Anne Kreamer, a writer living in Brooklyn, set out to find, at least for herself, whether or not coloring her hair was as important as she thought it was. After coloring her hair a dark brown for 20 years, Kreamer decided to give up the bottle and decided to go back to her roots.
In doing so, she explored the two questions that plague every woman who fears the gray hair: Can I be sexually attractive as a gray-haired, middle-aged woman? and Will I be discriminated against in the work world?
The results of Kreamer’s experiment were collected in a book called Going Gray: What I Learned about Beauty, Sex, Work, Motherhood, Authenticity, and Everything Else That Really Matters.
In essence, what Kreamer discovered was that hair color wasn’t as important as she had previously suspected. In fact, gray hair actually worked to her advantage in some interesting ways. For instance, her brunette march.com profile actually received far fewer responses than her gray-haired profile. At least based on the numbers, going gray, it turned out, was good for her game.
So what do you think about going gray? Have you ever considered giving up on the bottle and going au naturale. If you have, did you worry that you will seem less attractive?
Let’s face it waxing can be a drag. It’s not the pain that gets me — I actually enjoy that part — it’s everything leading up the waxing that is painful. Finding the time in the day to schedule an appointment, driving across town to go to the salon, and don’t even get me started on the money. So it’s always nice to have a cheaper at home alternative to getting lovely brows. At home eyebrow grooming can be a dangerous thing without the proper tools. If you aren’t careful you can walk away with uneven and over-plucked brows, which are mistakes that take time to grow back. That is why eyebrow waxer to the stars, Anastasia, has created a line that helps you achieve professional results at home.
I had been eying Anastasia’s products for some time at my local Sephora. The thought of not having to be a slave to the salon was quite appealing. What wasn’t appealing was the price tag on Anastasia’s kit. Her most popular kit for $75 includes; tweezers, brow powder, four brow stencils, duo angle brush, brow gel, and a highlighting pencil. Sure, that seems like a lot of stuff, but what I really wanted was the stencils and a great pair of tweezers.
So today when I opened my Sephora Insider’s email I was delighted to see a brand new limited edition kit from Anastasia for only $45. The kit includes a pair of tweezers, miniature scissors, and four stencils all in an adorable case - perfection.
I tested out the kit this evening and was pleased as punch. Since this kit didn’t have the brow powder, I simply used a bit of white eye shadow and plucked and snipped the areas that weren’t “shadowed”. I will admit I did get a little pluck happy and now have a tiny bald spot, but it was nothing a little brow filler couldn’t fix.
Practice definitely makes perfect with any at home brow grooming, but I do believe that this will help cut down on my visits to the salon.
When most women are having a bad hair day they just slap that unruly mop into a bun. It’s a big problem with a simple solution, so why not? Here is the thing ladies: we are all hip to your game and it’s getting old. Add a little pizazz to your tired old bun with a little ribbon magic.
As seen on the Derek Lam Fall runway show, updating a simple bun is really simple. The Derek Lam models paraded their tightly pulled back locks and looked fiercely chic while doing so. To achieve the look at home simply wet your hair with water or a mouse (nothing that will make your hair go crunch please) and pull it back in a secure bun. Once your hair is in place, get a long piece of ribbon (like, really long) to wrap around your skull.
Choose your ribbon wisely. Anything too silky will slip and not stay in place — I would go for a nice velveteen ribbon or a nice cotton ribbon. Once you have your ribbon, begin at the top and start wrapping. Get creative with it. Keep them close together near your forehead or spread them out across the top of your head. Tie the ribbon off in the back or secure with a few bobby pins.
See that was simple and now no one will know you are having a bad hair day. Oh and be prepared to be mimicked … everyone is going to want this look.
Back in college, I wore my hair short and messy. It was a straightforward look, and I would’ve rather spent my extra cash on beer, so I started cutting it myself. Fortunately there are very few photos of me from this period in my life.
However, DIY haircuts can be great — assuming you know what you’re doing. Especially if you’re a guy, and aren’t doing something complicated with your coiffure, paying $40-$80 for a stylist is a waste of money. Because, if you do it right, the cut you give yourself will look just as good. Plus — I don’t know about you — but I find it nearly impossible to carve out two hours of my day to drive to the salon, get the cut, and drive home. I’m always finishing up with work around 10 or 11 at night and realizing my hair is a mess and I need it cut — if only there was a hairdresser in town who worked on my schedule!
But making a self-cut look decent can be tough — particularly if you’re just getting started. A great blog to get you on the right track is How To Cut Your Own Hair. It’s a new site, so there’s not much up yet, but you can already find 10 Helpful Tips on Cutting Hair At Home (a must, I think, for any first-timers out there who are about to give this a shot), and an explanation of one basic cut — with, I imagine, more to follow.
Check it out. Your hair will thank you.
Ever since Britney Spears finally bought the crazy farm back in February, she’s been wearing wigs to cover up her creepy bald scalp.
Just in case you were worried that hair was never growing back — fear not! The former pop-star and future family court reject appeared in public this weekend, de-wigged. And, as you can see in the picture, her real hair is indeed growing back.
I’d almost forgotten that she used to look normal. Here’s hoping this is a sign that Britney’s about to pull it together and take responsibility for her life and children.
Though, somehow, I doubt that’s the case.
